The script for David Mamet’s newest play, Race, has been under lock and key, but the producers have given us some exclusive production shots. A few facts about the show are known: David Alan Grier, James Spader and Kerry Washington are lawyers representing Richard Thomas, a wealthy man who has gotten himself into serious legal trouble with racial implications. We’re not sure what thousand words the following shots call to mind, but the production looks sober enough. We can’t tell if anyone in the pictures is swearing creatively or lobbing slurs. Anyone out there see an early preview? Also, get your tickets here.
Update: A James Spader profile in the Times clues us in: Richard Thomas’s character is accused of raping an African-American woman. These lawyers are helping him build his defense.
