Brooklyn “Baracklyn” Cyclones vs. Hudson Valley Renegades

You have to catch the Cyclones at least once this summer, so why not get a free President Obama bobblehead doll in the bargain? The first 2,500 fans through the gate can take one home.

    Theater
    Things of Dry Hours

Delroy Lindo stars in Naomi Wallace’s gorgeously written and philosophically rich celebration of a black Communist agitator in the Depression-era South.

    What to wear this summer

Posted in Own This City, Shopping by Erin Wylie on May 20th, 2009 at 5:22 pm

il_430xn67667973Etsy, the online universe of all things crafty, asked me to pick my summer-in-the-city essentials. In the process of scouring the site, I discovered three great New York designers: Felice, a Brooklynite who makes gorgeously retro (but not too much so) swimsuits; Patricia Ayres, or artlab, who creates avant-garde clothing; LAUKaccessories, which turns out quirky-cool leather bags and belts. If you want to check out these designers and find out what to do this summer and what to wear while doing it, see my picks.
