The “hottest ticket in political history”? That’s how Radio City is billing a conversation between President Bill Clinton and President George W. Bush on February 25. And while we’ve always thought those Lincoln-Douglas debates sounded pretty sweet, we have to admit that Slick Willie and Dubya setting the world to rights in the NYC is pretty damn huge.

Our very own Caroline Voagen Nelson headed to Radio City this morning for a behind-the-scenes look at the Rockettes. “I was so impressed by [choreographer] Linda Haberman and Karen [Keeler, assistant choreographer and dance captain]. They both held such a commanding presence and their strength and experience in dance was really evident. ”
Asked if going to a special, media-only rehearsal of the Rockettes was a life dream come true, Caroline told me, “Well, my favorite part of the rehearsal was one of the dancers who wore some very hip boots that were actually dance shoes! It was nice to see something edgy in a show where everyone is meant to look uniform.” We’ll take that as a yes.—-Sophie Friedman

What’s that, you say? Uh-huh. Uh-huh. Yep. Yeah, it’s true that I’ve watched all 682 minutes of the extended Lord of the Rings trilogy countless times, and can even recite lines from the special-feature discs from memory. What? No, you’re the nerd. Dude, who was the one that wore elf ears and said things like “The Uruks are coming!” and “No one tosses a dwarf!” for two straight months? Yeah, I don’t blame her for dumping you. Look, I’m sorry she took the cat, but at least she had the good sense to change its name from Treebeard to Sprinkles. All right already. Because I feel bad for you and your miserable life, you can come with me. Yes, the Fellowship of the Ring is being screened at Radio City Music Hall tomorrow night, and the award-winning score is being simultaneously performed by the 21st Century Symphony Orchestra, the Collegiate Chorale, the Brooklyn Youth Chorus and Kaitlyn Lusk, as conducted by Ludwig Wicki. I know, it’s going to be awesome. Dude, stop crying. I know, I’m your best friend. You’re getting snot on my shirt. You can go Saturday night, too, if it means so much to you. There there. You know Gandalf isn’t gone forever. Shhhh.
It was the smackdown of a lifetime, albeit one we’ve seen before: Bill Maher versus Ann Coulter. Last night’s sold-out event took place at Radio City Music Hall, and the tusslers tackled everything from President Obama’s first 45 days in office to why newspapers (and reporters, flip sons of bitches that they are) deserve to die.
The fight was mostly friendly, even if the audience wasn’t. Yes, Ann Coulter was booed. Repeatedly. Deafeningly at one point. Read more »
