Your weekly sample sale update, part one

Posted in Shopping by Rachel LeWinter on June 10th, 2009 at 6:20 pm

    carolina-herreraCarolina Herrera + Rena Lange
Even if Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies” is your current theme song, now is the time to buy a bridal gown from this coveted label. Carolina Herrera silk strapless beaded-and-embroidered gowns are marked down from $8,990 to $1,798. Other elegant styles up for grabs include black-and-white striped minidresses for $598 (normally $2,990) and floor-length chiffon tiered gowns (left), slashed from $4,290 to $858. You can also pick up fancy goods from designer Rena Lange, including cotton poppy frocks for $748 (normally $2,495) and sequined dresses for $1,139 (usually $3,795). Worry about getting a fiancé later. Soiffer Haskin, 317 W 33rd St between Eighth and Ninth Aves (718-747-1656). Subway: A, C, E, 1, 2, 3 to 34th St–Penn Station. Mon 15–Wed 17 9am–6:30pm, June 18 9am–5pm.

    rober-grahamTracy Reese + Robert Graham
Both genders can score big discounts on designer garb at this duo’s blowout. Scoop up ultrafemme threads from Tracy Reese, like A-line frocks for $125 (instead of $320) and floral-print skirts, clipped from $250 to $75. Men can pick up some of Robert Graham’s dapper duds: His luxe woven shirts, knits and shorts are now $60 each (as opposed to $148–$298). Red Bag, 250 W 39th St between Seventh and Eighth Aves (212-398-9300). Subway: A, C, E to 42nd St–Port Authority; N, Q, R, W, 42nd St S, 1, 2, 3, 7 to 42nd St–Times Sq. Tue 16, Wed 17 8am–7pm; June 18 8am–2pm.

    catherine-malandrinoCatherine Malandrino
This French designer’s career in fashion thus far may be considered short—her first collection debuted in New York in 1998—but her clothes are timeless, and now more affordable than ever (up to 90 percent off!). Striped maxidresses (left) are tagged $125 (rather than $695), leather motorcycle jackets are $225 (were $895), and pencil skirts are $60 (instead of $325). Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 W 18th St between Sixth and Seventh Aves (212-463-0071). Subway: F, V to 14th St; L to Sixth Ave; 1 to 18th St. Wed 17 10am–9pm; June 18, 19 9am–8pm.

    dg-toteDolce & Gabbana
Buying some of D&G’s sultry apparel may not turn you into one of the sexy, half-naked models the company features in its ads, but you can pretend. Silk animal-print blouses are sheared from $695 to $350, skinny jeans are $395 (originally $795), and leopard-print tote bags (left) are nicked from $1,350 to $675. Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 W 18th St between Sixth and Seventh Aves (877-703-4872). Subway: F, V to 14th St; L to Sixth Ave; 1 to 18th St. Tue 16, Wed 17, June 21 11am–7pm; June 18–20 11am–8pm.

    rag-bone-jumperHelmut Lang + Rag & Bone
The only thing better than a sample sale is two sample sales. Hit up this dual markdown fest for women’s Rag & Bone silk jumpers (left) for $129 (as opposed to $450), and men’s button-down shirts, snipped from $320 to $85. Also on hand are women’s Helmut Lang leather jackets for $379 (rather than $1,185), and men’s skinny jeans, discounted from $270 to $79. 261 W 36th St between Seventh and Eighth Aves, second floor (212-947-8748). Subway: A, C, E, 1, 2, 3 to 34th St–Penn Station. Thu 11 10am–7pm.
