Your perfect Sunday: Invent a new sport, have a sponge bath and hear Yo La Tengo get fishy

Posted in Own This City by Jonathan Shannon on May 17th, 2009 at 12:00 am
TrianGoal, we'll all be playing it soon

TrianGoal at Outplay 2008—soon we'll all be playing it.

Shopping, dancing and saving the planet: three of our favorite things come together at the Bust Spring Fling Craftacular in Brooklyn today.

Ever wonder what it felt like to be James Naismith? Try it out by inventing your own sport at Outplay 2009: The Outdoor Game Creation Tournament in Central Park—turn up, receive props and let your imagination do the rest.

Ride your trusty steed over to Brooklyn for a complimentary sponge bath for both of you at Bike Wash Body Wash, courtesy of HiChristina!

Something smell fishy? It’s probably the aroma of a school of aquatic-themed events. Be the whale at Milstein Science Series: Sundays Under the Whale at the American Museum of Natural History, where chamber music, live painting and poetry combine for an out-of-body, into-big-fish experience.

Then swim over to the Bell House for “A Night of Submarine Cinema” to hear the music indie-rockers Yo La Tengo, composed to accompany images of mollusks getting it on in Jean Painlevé’s underwater films.

The details for your perfect Sunday are right here.
