Tonight’s Last-Minute Plan: Get 1 percent smarter with author Colson Whitehead

Posted in Own This City by Jonathan Shannon on May 26th, 2009 at 5:00 pm

When you’re packing your suitcase for your summer vacation, make sure you include Colson Whitehead’s Sag Harbor. It’s a coming-of-age novel that reconstructs the mid-’80s in lush detail and will cloak you in a fuzzy blanket of nostalgia.

We spoke to Whitehead about his decision to dip his toe in the waters of autobiography, and tonight you can hear the engaging author discuss his book further at one of our favorite independent booksellers, McNally Jackson.

The event is free and begins at 7pm. In a change from the original listing, Whitehead will converse with his friend and The Ministry of Special Cases author, Nathan Englander.
