If Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris) ran the world, it would be all smarm, suits and slaps to the face—and we’d like it. Tonight Barney takes on the economy one unemployment crisis at a time, starting with Ted’s; it seems that the aptly named Goliath National Bank isn’t going to hire the lovelorn architect to design a new headquarters after all. Barney’s reasoning: Why console your buddy when you can stage an elaborate hoax and keep him in the dark? Meanwhile, Robin does some dorky Canadian stuff, which is really the only interesting thing she does besides break Ted’s heart. Bring on the maple syrup!
