We all love Barcade, but I find their arcade games too retro. They’re for the generation before me. Now Mario Kart on the Nintendo 64, that’s where I wasted my childhood.
Or maybe it wasn’t wasted. Not if I win the monthlong title of 3rd Ward’s Video Game King tonight, and you will all be my virtual subjects. Mwah-ha- ha.
A design center in Brooklyn, 3rd Ward is hosting the inaugural “Return of the Wizard: A Video Game Challenge” tonight from 7pm to midnight. It costs $5 to compete on a ten-by-ten-foot screen, but it’s free to cheer or jeer with a beer in hand.
And while the event may seem the preserve of bespectacled man-boys, 3rd Ward is calling out the ladies to get revenge for being shunned by sulking teenage adolescent boys. It’s coed all the way.
“Return of the Wizard” will return on the last Tuesday of every month with a different retro-game competition.
