Yes! My favorite Pete Campbell won! So well deserved!

Is it really a surprise that David Tennant got a huge fan turn out in voters? I think he’s one of the, if the THE, most talented actor of our generation. Stage, little or big screen, audio, he can do it all and when he’s on camera or on stage, everyone’s eyes are on him. He radiates that very rare kind of charisma and magnetism and on top of it all, he’s a truly, genuinely nice person who has yet to let his fame go to his head. In the end, the fact that he can maintain his sense of humor and down-to-earth common sense in the glare of the spotlight is his very best quality. Congrats David.

Maybe some more American press will take notice of the fan following David Tennant has here in the States! Go, David!

I am glad David Tennant has won the outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series because is the best actor in the world and also he is good looking to. Dr who is the best because the programs seem so real, sometimes i walk out and expect to see a flying poilce box (Tardis).

well done David tennant and everyone who works on Dr who

Hooray for David Tennant! Who would have ever thought that the campy tv show that we watched on PBS because it was the only sci-fi around would become thought-provoking drama? David really throws himself into the role - I’ve never cried watching a sci-fi tv show before.

    6. Posted by Rachel on September 26th, 2008 at 11:29 am

Of course David Tennant won! He’s awesome. I’m surprised Doctor Who didn’t make best drama. I wish he got more american press. Torchwood too.

David is an Excellent Actor and i adore him for his professionalism. He is brilliant and from what i know about him he’s a funny guy. He is actually one of the reasons why i’m going back to school to get my acting Degree..I admire his ability and his charm. Congrats David and keep it up!

      Ditto Jenny.

Nice to see a gentleman win.
      A good looking guy.
A phenomenally gifted and hard working actor.
      A talented comedic actor.
An ecological aware actor - who isn’t just all talk, no action.
      An intelligent actor.
An all-around nice person, from everything reported, anyway.

Here’s to my favourite actor of this generation - David Tennant.

I’m so happy David Tennant has been given this award by Time Out/New York; well deserved. Watching him last night playing a splendidly aggrieved Hamlet and knowing his amazing portrayal of The Doctor I can only wonder to what lengths Mr Tennant can take his career. Surely a modern day Olivier? Watch is space a knighthood within the next decade.

    10. Posted by Jillian Wolfenden on September 26th, 2008 at 5:55 pm

David Tennant is the most talented actor of our generation. His wit charisma and versatility are just awesome. His portrayal of Hamlet was awesome and his audio work is outstanding. He is an inspiration to us all.
He is a genuine person and very professional. An actor who hasnt let fame go to his head.
Keep up the good work David.
Your talent wit and charm, your vulnerability and sex appeal. Your just fantastic.

      congratulation David Tennant

    12. Posted by Michael on September 26th, 2008 at 9:25 pm

While David does deserve his award, he was not snubbed by Emmy voters; he is not eligible for a Primetime Emmy. The only way he could be up for one was if SciFi Channel was one of the producers of the program. Since BBC Wales and The CBC are the co-producers, that means David isn’t eligible for a Primetime Emmy. He is eligible for an International Emmy in the category “Best Actor - Drama,” but has yet to be recognized.

Now, he DOES have a shot next year in the Miniseries/Made-for-TV category, because later in the winter, HBO is airing a biopic called, “Einstein and Eddington,” in which he will play Sir Arthur Eddington. Since HBO and The BBC are co-producers of the project, David would be eligible for an Emmy should his name be submitted for consideration.

    13. Posted by Michael on September 26th, 2008 at 9:35 pm

I should correct myself. There is only one “Best Actor” category at the International Emmys.

    14. Posted by lizzie on September 26th, 2008 at 11:43 pm

I CANT BELIEVE DAVID TENNANT ACTUALLY WON!
I LOVE HIM AND HES IS SUCH A FANTASTIC ACTOR!
      WELL DONE TO HIM!

    15. Posted by phyll on September 27th, 2008 at 3:30 am

All the above comments are absolutely right. Anyone who has ever seen anything David Tennant has ever been in, right back to his earliest work (Takin’ Over the Asylum) will know that he has had STAR stamped all over him since the very beginning. He is indeed the best actor of his generation, with the added bonus of being one of the sexiest as well. Dr Who fits him like a glove because he has made it his. A truly well deserved win.

    16. Posted by Jane on September 27th, 2008 at 7:33 am

David Tennant had to win, he just has to be the most talented actor around. His energy on screen and in the theatre is just amazing and he can play such a range of different characters. He has totally re-energised Doctor Who - and how can he play two identical Doctors and make you feel they are subtly different? Truly brilliant. Congratulations to him - I think he’ll end up being Sir David one day too.

    17. Posted by Aranel on September 27th, 2008 at 10:21 am

Hooray for Time Out/New York! I agree completely with all the comments about David Tennant. A modern day Olivier indeed! I am equally happy to see Anna Friel and Pushing Daisies recognized. And last but not least, Battlestar Galactica.( They only received one Emmy this year). Talk about an outstanding drama series. I would be hard pressed to choose between it and Doctor Who. Congratulations to all!

    18. Posted by Cynthia on September 27th, 2008 at 10:55 am

Waouh I was sure David Tennant would win, I mean he’s such a brillant actor in everything he does, and on stage he is just amazing as Hamlet
He is also very nice and he hasn’t been changed by fame, he remained the same and this is why I so love him, he’s the best actor of the moment I think!!!

    19. Posted by Denice on September 27th, 2008 at 12:04 pm

Hooray for David Tennant, but more for Bruce Campbell!!! Actor, Director, Producer, Writer and “Shemp” extraordinaire! Gotta love a guy who can do so much and still keep his “B” movie charm. If you haven’t seen his “Evil Dead” movies, do it. And if you haven’t read his books…shame on you. Take your butt down to the closes book store and pick them up. Believe me, it will sooooooo be worth it!

    20. Posted by b on September 27th, 2008 at 4:44 pm

why was jan listed as a lead actress for the office and pam was listed as supported? shouldn’t it be switched?

    21. Posted by Aki on September 27th, 2008 at 6:05 pm

I’m extremely thrilled that James Roday won for Best Actor in a Comedy Series. He really is an amazing actor and I feel so saddened that Psych gets passed over every year for the same shows that have been nominated several times already.

    22. Posted by Hayley-Dawn on September 27th, 2008 at 7:06 pm

Ofcourse David won… it should never have been in doubt!!! A superb contemporary actor (of which spectacularly fail to materialise these days as they did in days of old) that makes me proud to be a Brit.
A credit to the acting profession and a well-deserved ( even if he is still highly underrated as actor as yet) achievement.
Well done David, you deserve it.
      xXx

    23. Posted by Brooke on September 27th, 2008 at 10:14 pm

I’m so thrilled that David Tennant was recognized by being nominated in the first place. His performance as The Doctor was completely ignored by the Baftas and Cymru Baftas last year, and he was of course left out of the Emmys again. It’s nice to see that someone out there sees the same thing that I do every week - an actor with such an amazing range who has brought so much depth to the show. Well, he can certainly thank his huge fanbase for getting him the win. Maybe, others will finally take notice of his craft now!

    24. Posted by Candace on September 27th, 2008 at 11:06 pm

Congratulations to David Tennant!! This is a well deserved honor for him.

    25. Posted by Jane on September 28th, 2008 at 7:36 am

I’m extremely happy for David Tennant too. He definately deserves this award; his every single performance is outstanding! Whether portraying a maniac boyfriend, detective or a Time Lord, Mr Tennant is convincing in every role. Congratulations David!

    26. Posted by Pam from Italy on October 1st, 2008 at 1:02 pm

I was a bit sorry to see that Reaper didn’t get any prize, I think it’s one of the best series of the last few years - just funny and with a good suspense too. Absolutely thrilled for David Tennant, on the other hand - he’s my favourite actor ever. I saw him this summer in Stratford as Hamlet on stage - he was incredibly good. So kudos to David - and to everyone else who worked so hard this year and got nominated.

I am so excited for James Roday! He is an awesome actor and Psych is an awesome show!!! yea!

i think that lena heady is more sexier as sarah connor
than linda hamilton portrayed sarah in both terminator movies
and lena is brittish even and we do pull it of in style with also
other british imports like johnny lee miller as eli stone and
hugh laurie as the title lead in house and i am glad that lena won an award because she is a brilliant actress and she should have being casted the role of sarah connor for t2
at the first place and lena is formidable of what role she does
and pulls it of in style and she is destined for bigger things
in the action world and will make a good future version
of sigourney weaver(ghostbusters ‘aliens and eli stone)
and congrates lena you’re the best.
