We here at TONY are huge fans of the Bang on a Can folk and their ever-innovative assaults on classical-music orthodoxy. So when we heard about BOAC’s new Asphalt Orchestra—a mobile street band that makes its debut at Lincoln Center Out of Doors August 5 through August 9—and its brilliantly diverse repertoire, we knew we had to get an advance look.
