TONY first spied the potently eccentric local singer-songwriter Shilpa Ray when she was one third of the now-defunct trio Beat the Devil, whom we featured back in ’06. When we heard Ray performing her biting, noirish tunes with her Happy Hookers a few weeks back at Todd P’s Acoustic BBQ, we knew we had to invite her (and her harmonium) to the office for a taping.
