    Ticket Alert: Phish

Posted in The Volume by Colin St. John on April 6th, 2009 at 3:33 pm

Say what you will about Phish’s music, but these dudes care about their fans. Yes, people will proclaim that all of the band’s shows are about gettin’ that paper, but it’s hard to argue that they’re only in it for the money when they set up as many dates in as many places as they can, keep the ticket prices at a standard rate and book superawesome venues. They could be playing the Pepsi Center or even Invesco Field at Mile High in Denver, but they’re playing Red Rocks instead. And as for here? No MSG during the summer, folks. It’s off to Jones Beach, and an additional show there (in addition to two sold-out affairs) on Tuesday, June 2, announced today.

That’s good news for New Yorkers, but what’s the real headline today? The Vermont four-piece will take to the home of the Boston Red Sox, Fenway Park, for a date, Sunday May 31. Phish has been known to bust it out at ballparks, so this is one to catch. Ticket requests are now under way on Phish’s site here (through Easter Sunday). The public on-sale for Jones Beach is on Friday the 17th here, and for Fenway on Saturday the 18th here. Here’s hoping they don’t sell out in ten seconds to a bunch of scalpers—maybe some people who want to actually go to the concert will be able to for a fair price.

Why the fuss? Here’s a taste of what they were up to during the Hampton reunion shows:
