Restaurateur Danae Cappelletto’s Travertine features a sumptuous clublike interior and skillfully executed Mediterranean menu from Top Chef–testant Manuel Trevino. Critic Jay Cheshes awarded the place three stars, but a rash of early shillers commenters unanimously gave it five.

For a weekend break in a dacha on the Caspian Sea (well, almost…), consider dropping into Mari Vanna, the first American outpost of a Russian chain, located in the Flatiron District. Drink one of the many house-infused vodkas and scoop salmon roe from the cavity of a little Russian doll. What the food lacks in consistency, the place makes up for in sheer entertainment value. Enjoy the slide show, and check out our three-star review here.

Tony May and his daughter Marisa closed their midtown stalwart, San Domenico, and opened a reimagined version called SD26, next to Madison Square Park. Expect newfangled touches (a wine list on a computer tablet?!), alongside both traditional and experimental Italian dishes from chef Odette Fada. TONY’s Jay Cheshes certainly enjoyed the melding of old and new. Read his four-star review here.

If your family descends on you during the holidays and you find yourself in South Street Seaport, avoid the tourist traps and head north of Fulton Street, for a plum crab-cake burger at the Pan-Latin eatery Onda. TONY gave it three stars in this week’s review.

Seafood specialist Ed Brown lends his name to Jeffrey Chodorow’s new Lincoln Center–area venture, Ed’s Chowder House. (Though Jay Cheshes thinks it should be renamed Ed’s Lobster Bar, as Brown’s lobster roll is “on par with the best in the city.”) Enjoy these extra photos, and then find out what else to order in our three-star review.

Last spring, the Upper West Side welcomed Recipe, an excellent neighborhood spot in the mold of Brooklyn’s beloved farm-forward eateries. Enjoy the photos, read our four-star review and if your interest is piqued, sample their weekend brunch.

Feast your eyes on the most recent addition to the Time Warner Center, A Voce Columbus. Look appetizing? It is. This week, Jay Cheshes gives it a four-star review.
