A home-brew oasis is on the horizon. Or so it would seem, based on the progress we’re tracking on Brooklyn Homebrew, the blog of what could be the borough’s first home-brewing supply. As long as any Gotham grain-pusher can remember, the choices have either been to drive to Long Island or New Jersey for heavy sacks of grain, or spend a small fortune shipping items from other parts of the country. A hardy few grow hops in their backyards, but it is the bulky grain and extracts that will likely fly off the shelves and into beer-minded DIY kettles across the city. Of course, brewing five gallons of hot, sticky goo in your teeny apartment will never be a cakewalk, but this news should excite the ever-growing base of home-brewing enthusiasts.
