Feast on grub from the Frankies at the Belmont Stakes

Posted in Eat Out by Eat Out on June 4th, 2010 at 6:34 pm

frankiescookbookAs if the third and final race in the Triple Crown weren’t reason enough to head to the Belmont Stakes on Saturday, here’s another: trackside meals from chefs Frank Falcinelli and Frank Castronovo (Frankies 457 and Frankies 17). Having grown up around the corner from the track (apparently they even broke into it a few times), the Frankies are returning to their old stomping grounds and preparing a menu based on their new cookbook, The Frankies Spuntino Kitchen Companion and Cooking Manual.

The gratis spread, available only to race ticket holders ($20–$350), will feature meatballs, buttermilk fried chicken and house-made cavatelli with Faicco’s hot sausage. The grub will be available from 11:30am to 3:30pm in the Garden Terrace, and a book signing with the Frankies will be from 1:30 to 2pm in the Club House. Odds of your horse winning the race may be slim, but with these delectable selections, everybody wins.—Molly Yeh
