Cheap eats: Free burgers and discounted dogs

Posted in Eat Out by Eat Out on December 17th, 2009 at 12:49 pm

picture-7Whatever the critics have to say, New Yorkers are still happy to gobble up haute dogs and burgers—especially when they’re free. New York Hotdog and Coffee has been tweeting about its daily special: After 5pm, any of its dressed-up tube steaks, including the bulgogi and pizza varieties, are buy-one-get-one-free. The promotion lasts through the end of the week—possibly longer, according to one manager. Meanwhile, Thrillist brings word that downtown partyers can drop by Mikey’s Burger at 134 Ludlow Street, the new joint du jour from Michael “Bao” Huynh, for free burgers at midnight on Friday. If you miss out, score a complimentary lamb or pork “burger” at Xi’an Famous Foods, the Flushing favorite whose new Manhattan storefront was profiled yesterday by Fork in the Road. The giveaway begins at 11am on Saturday and requires an R.S.V.P.—Jenny Miller
