Harry Poulakakos (Harry’s Café) has been collecting wines for more than 50 years, with a particular interest in Burgundy. Now his son Peter opens a small wine and whiskey bar called Vintry Wine & Whiskey (57 Stone St between Broad St and Hanover Sq, 212-480-9800), offering much of Dad’s hoard. Eighty selections—including a number of expensive picks—will be available by the taste (two ounces), glass (five ounces) and bottle. An additional 350-bottle reserve list will feature Poulakakos’s rarest vinos. As for the hard stuff, 200 whiskeys (bourbon, rye, Scotch, etc.) will be the only liquor on hand. Find it in cocktails like the Angel’s Share (bourbon, agave, Fernet Branca, lemon and sea salt). Wine-friendly small plates, such as shrimp-and-chorizo skewers, and lamb spareribs with tsatsiki, come courtesy of chef Joseph Mallol (a Harry’s vet).
