The air will grow more brisk in the coming weeks, and with it come more frequent ramen cravings—there’s just nothing like a hot bowl of noodle soup to still an uncontrollable shiver. Ramen Setagaya appears to be positioning itself as the go-to place to satisfy that urge: The University Place location has recently launched an expanded menu, adding the spicy, sesame-flavored tan-tan men; slightly sweet curry with pickled ginger; and a vegetarian miso to their existing lineup of salt (shio), soy (syo-yu) and miso broths. It’s interesting that the ramen chain, which opened its first New York branch selling only the shio variety, has increasingly embraced a diversified approach. Some would say that’s sound economics, but to us it’s just a soothing dinner.
