On the matter of rich mofos: Julie & Julia grosses $20M

Posted in Eat Out by Jordana Rothman on August 10th, 2009 at 2:55 pm
No more $1 books for Julie Powell

No more $1 books for Julie Powell.

On Friday night (or at 12:01am Friday morning for that rare breed of fetishist), Julie & Julia was unleashed in NYC theaters.

We won’t even get into how vile, colicky and self-indulgent we found Amy Adams’s rendition of Powell (or how enchanting was Streep’s Mrs. Child). Based on the numbers—it grossed $20,100,000 this weekend, coming in just behind G.I. Joe—it doesn’t seem to matter much. So how did Powell celebrate her blockbuster? Not with Julia’s beef bourguignonne, but with dinner at Prune.

If your blog was made into a book, which was made into a movie that topped 20 mil on its first weekend, where would you dine on opening night? Tell us in the comments.
