They’re not quite cheap enough to qualify as Cheap Eats, but we still think a couple of offers at Daniel (available for the foreseeable future) are worth mentioning. First, for those willing to eat on the early side, the restaurant is offering its three-course prix-fixe menu Monday–Thursday from 5:30 to 6pm for $98, with wine pairings. Sure, it’s still expensive, but when you consider that the menu is normally $105 without wine, dishes like grilled arctic char with spring garlic, glazed ramps and marcona-almond emulsion (served with a Graves bordeaux) start to sound like a deal.
For those who prefer things later and sweeter, the restaurant also has a dessert offering: Sit in the bar area Monday–Thursday after 9:30pm and you can get any dessert from the menu (normally $18 each), along with a cocktail or glass of house champagne (normally $23 per glass) for $25. With the dessert comes all the standard flourishes—petits fours, chocolates and warm madeleines—giving you plenty of bang for your upscale buck. For more info, visit its website.
