A stop by Ippudo NY last night intrigued us with its current special: “Showa,” a “1980s-style ramen noodle soup.” Though we were half expecting studded leather and feathered hair, the soup in fact features a blend of shoyu (soy sauce), “chin tan” (chicken) and tonkotsu (pork) broths—a combination slightly more harmonious than acid-washed jeans, layered socks and hot pink lace.
