Mmmm, Kumquat's cupcakes, at the Brooklyn Flea. Photo courtesy of Kumquat Cupcakery.
This just in from Eric Demby, the impresario who brought us the homegrown Brooklyn Flea in Fort Greene and Antiques Market in Dumbo. The flea is expanding its winter pop-up location to 81 Front Street, just across from the antiques market, and the hours will be 11am–6pm every weekend through March 26. Though we’re sure you can score some really cute small-time designer earrings and other treasures, what we’re really interested in is the food.
On board: Kumquat Cupcakery, McClure’s Pickles, Hot Blondies Bakery and Choice Market, for starters. Per Demby, Fine + Raw Chocolate will introduce its raw hot cocoa, and Consider Bardwell Farm (we’ve been, we’ve tasted, it’s fab) will start selling its cheeses on February 8. Street-food fans: Make room for Kings County BBQ, dispensed from a truck, of course, and Salvadoran pupusas of Red Hook Ball Field fame. In my humble opinion, community never tasted this good.
