Breaking: Kelly Choi to host Top Chef: Masters

Kelly Choi: The Top Chef empire's next hostess with the mostest.

Kelly Choi: The Top Chef empire's next hostess with the mostest.

This just in: Eat Out NY hottie food appreciator Kelly Choi has been named host of the next installment in the evolution of Top Chef mania, Top Chef: Masters. Though we do love to claim the NYC TV cutie as our hometown gal, we’re certainly proud of this huge career coup. But don’t fret, fans—she’s returning to NYC (and, presumably, to her gigs here) after a month of shooting in L.A. beginning later in January. All we can say is, Padma, watch your back.

“Who do you think is foxier, Kelly or Padma?”

I cannot help but be captivated by young women from all parts of the Asian continent. While Padma is positively alluring, she oozes sophistication and refinement.

For that reason, I must vote for KELLY. Kelly is the kind of naughty temptress that every heterosexual man thinks of inappropriately pretty much all of the time.

KELLY CHOI is a VAIN NASTY person. She is and has been a backstabber in school at Columbia J SCHOOL and she has no problem crawling up the veritable dick ladder to stardom. Stay away from the married men u love so much Kelly Choi

Kelly Choi is a VAPID, VAIN, stupid Host. THe only way Bravo picked her up is they needed someone on the cheap. There’s no way they could have vetted Kelly Choi. Choi is untalented. Just read the comments on her. Viewers don’t tune into her

Hate KElly Choi . she has no purpose anywhere and Bravo must not have had enough money this year to get a REAL host

like every asian girl that is and will come to America, They come sleep with, date, and marry white men who will get them where they want to go! she is cute, but no talent and doobybrother is right, climbed the white dick ladder like every asian girl. Padma did the same thing, east Indian are worst than asian woman in that department, they come to America and automatically act are white and hosting stupid ass cooking shows. Only in america LOL

Kelly choi is Void of any culinary comments that are substantive. I vote for dversity but this Choi woman rubs me the wrong way. She comes across way dumb and is she anorexic??

Before I browsed and then decided to post, I thought that the anti-Kelly faction would be a minority because, as Doc Chuck commented, lots of heterosexual non-Asian men LOVE to fantasize about women who appear in their dreams as some version of Kelly Choi. I am an accomplished Asian-American woman who spent many years as a performer in theatre and television, and I take some umbrage at the hiring practices in the acting and TV business. I don’t hate Kelly but I think she is rather untalented, inelegant, and abrasive. I understand the “business” well enough to know that she was probably hired because she’s a “hottie” - which, by some weird Hollywood definition, means tall, skinny, and wearing too much makeup. Honestly speaking as a former professional performer, Kelly delivers her comments in an overpunctuated manner (she slams into every second or third syllable and doesn’t know how to modulate her speech to make the important words meaningful, rendering pretty much everything she says meaningLESS) that becomes irritating to listen to, she is dressed, either by herself or by the wardrobers on the show, to look like a hooker, and her hair and makeup are, for lack of a kinder word, unfortunate. Perhaps she really IS a gifted and knowledgeable foodie (her stint as host on Eat Out NY never really convinced me) but she skates by on her looks. This wouldn’t be so bad except that she overamplifies her look with, as other viewers commented, with too much makeup, huge false eyelashes that must be visible from the space station, big big hair, and an ill-chosen wardrobe. She lacks charm.

Kelly just isn’t a good host. Ignoring some of the ridiculous comments some made about her appearance, the real problem is that she’s asked to function as a “spokesmodel” and doesn’t add anything to the show. In that respect she’s the equivalent of Vanna White. At least Padma tastes and comments on the food in the “regular” Top Chef and seems engaged with what the competitors are doing. Not so with Kelly. According to her bio, in addition to being a model, she also has a degree in journalism and has been nominated for local Emmy awards. If she’s that talented, the shows producers should make use of that capability. Unfortunately, her role in the show is no more than a prop.

She makes the master chef’s food stink. Kelly looks like a scary crow and she doesn’t know what she’s talking about. Padma made me want to eat, enjoy and love food. Now kelly has ‘bittered’ my taste buds. WHY BRAVO, WHY? I want Padma back please, I beg of you!

    12. Posted by ihatekellychoi2 on August 6th, 2009 at 2:40 am

She is vapid, her stupid fake smile bugs me, and she doesn’t make any intelligent comment at all on anything. Please please never have her on Bravo again

    13. Posted by Dgleon on August 13th, 2009 at 10:59 pm

I enjoy the show but have to admit that I never can see Kelly Choi without wanting to dunk her in hot water and wash her face. She might be a pretty girl, but it is impossible to tell.

she looks likes a hooker with a lot of makeup.
      bet she stinks of perfume.
with her being on the show, the food doesnt look appetizing.
False move in hiring her, Bravo!!

I know Kelly personally, she’s super cool, down to earth, talented and very intelligent.
Television is fake and from watching it, you have no true means of measuring a person’s personality,…when they are hired to host a show.

      Chill out…
