If the Char No. 4 choke hold on South Brooklyn’s whiskey-sipping crowd can be loosened, Craig Samuel is just the gent to do it. The Smoke Joint and Peaches co-owner (with Ben Grossman) checked in today to let us know that Little Piggy (Market)—his Southern café adjacent to the Joint—has launched a bourbon bar. He calls it the Pig (“The Little Piggy grew up”).
The kitchen has been removed to make way for a small, rustic bar, at which patrons can peruse a well-curated selection of 28 bourbons. During the day, you’ll find café offerings; at night, mine the full menu from Smoke Joint’s adjacent kitchen.
Just don’t linger too late. Samuels calls the Pig a “sophisticated juke joint”—doors close at 1am.
