    Taco truck makes downtown pilgrimage

Posted in Eat Out by Eat Out on June 20th, 2008 at 5:41 pm

Chef Patricia Monroy, who owns one-year-old mobile taqueria Paty’s Tacos (347-216-9358, 347-216-9362), has abandoned her 110th Street perch for tonier digs on the Upper East Side. The truck now occupies real estate on the west side of Lexington Avenue between 86th and 87th Streets.

Sample Monroy’s wares Monday through Saturday, from 11am to 11pm. Items like agua frescas (including one made from the roselle flower); $2.50 tacos stuffed with roasted pork, carnitas or chorizo; and salsa roja, made with tomatillos and chile de arbol are worth the trip above 14th Street. Lazy uptowners have another option: Delivery starts next week within five blocks in every direction.— Seth Grudberg

HOW DID I NOT SEE THAT? I walk by all the time and didn’t see that we have a taco truck in the ‘hood! Can’t wait to try it…yumm…

After reading this, I stopped there yesterday for a quick bite….I’m always weary of food being sold from a truck, but these tacos were out of this world…I especially recommend the chorizo…they have crumbly, crispy pieces of chorizo (not in the casing)…mmm…DELISH!

Next time you use a graphic of a taco truck taco, I advise you to not use such a lame image of something that looks like it came from Taco Bell.

      Try something like this:

I live on 109th and it was a sad sad day when I looked and found there was no more Paty’s Tacos truck! I however feared the worse and thought I might never see them again. Thank you The Feed for restoring my faith in humanity and its love of a good taco, YOU FOUND THEM!
I will be stopping at 86th street quite often on the ride home!!!

This is really an amazing find! You almost can’t believe food this good and fresh is being dispensed out of a truck. The tacos are topped w/ really fresh, lettuce, cilantro, onions and tomatoes along w/ some other garnishes. And only $2.50???? This is definitely a gem for the UES.
