
One person’s fowl feast is another’s pheasant massacre—the image sent to us by The Tasting Room is at once beautiful (cue animal activists’ seething letters) and macabre. From the memo:
"Following is a photo of the freezer at the Tasting Room Restaurant on Elizabeth Street.… Fresh off the trucks from Violet Hill Farm in Sullivan County—60 Ring-Neck Pheasants. Chef Colin Alevras will be offering a four-course pheasant tasting menu which they will pair on request with one bottle of wine to be enjoyed with the entire meal. Violet Hill Farm will be delivering two dozen of these pheasants weekly for the foreseeable future. "
Let’s hope they take the feathers off first.
