  • Children’s sample sale starts tomorrow

Posted in Discount Diva, Shopping & Services by Rory Halperin on November 9th, 2009 at 6:18 pm

Who said sample sales were just for fashionistas? Starting Tuesday, November 10 and continuing through Thursday, November 12, Clothingline is hosting a kids wear sample sale in Midtown West. Stock up on merch from Jacadi, Crewcuts, Rachel Riley and Imps & Elfs at super-cheap prices (we hear that goodies from Jacadi will be 65% off). You can bring the brood, but keep in mind that strollers are prohibited. Also, dressing rooms won’t be available, so you’ll have to eyeball your purchases. Of course if the items end up being too large, you can always use them next year! 261 W 36th St between Seventh and Eighth Ave, 2nd floor (clothingline.com). Subway: A, C, E, 1, 2, 3 to 34th St–Penn Station.

Jamba Juice Bananaman handing out Ricky’s gift cards right now

Posted in Discount Diva, Halloween, Shopping & Services by Blair Tidwell on October 30th, 2009 at 11:47 am

bananaman-141x150Sometimes procrastination pays off! If you haven’t yet bought your tyke a Halloween costume, head to Ricky’s Soho location (590 Broadway between Houston and Prices Sts) between noon and 2pm today for a chance to snag store gift cards courtesy of Jamba Juice. As part of the company’s “Feel Good Campaign,” Bananaman will be surprising 350 shoppers with $30 gift cards to Ricky’s as well as Jamba Bucks (which range from $1 off Jamba products to $10,000 in cash). Budget issue solved; fighting for the last Spider-man costume is another problem entirely.

50% off kids’ costumes at Ricky’s

Posted in Around Town by Raven Snook on March 4th, 2009 at 5:15 pm

rickysIt’s not like kids need an excuse to dress up, but Purim is just around the corner. In honor of the Jewish holiday (dubbed the “Jewish Halloween” by some), Ricky’s is offering 50% off all of its kids’ costumes. Grab something for one of the many Purim fests happening about town, or for the “Nordic Halloween” celebration Fastelavn, which is also this weekend, or just stock up for next October 31.

    Two-for-one Off-Broadway tickets!

Posted in Theater by Raven Snook on February 6th, 2009 at 4:15 pm

Yes, we get it, the theater industry’s hurting. And while that’s bad for business, it’s a boon for budget-conscious parents. To stimulate sales, NYC & Company has launched the On the House initiative, which offers two-for-one tickets to a bunch of Off-Broadway shows from February 15 through March 1. Kid-friendly faves include:

    • Altar Boyz
    • Blue Man Group
    • Fuerzabruta
    • Gazillion Bubble Show
    • Monday Night Magic
    • Shipwrecked! An Entertainment
    • Stomp

For more information, including a complete list of participating shows, visit NYC & Company.

By the way, if you present your ticket stub at 11 participating restaurants, you can also get free Coke…as if the kids need more soda.
