If you’ve got fistfuls of Halloween candy lying around, the thoughtful folks at Tribeca kiddie store Babylicious will be happy to take the tempting morsels off your kids’ sticky hands. Inspired by the deal co-owner Carol Adams makes with her own kids—keep ten pieces of trick-or-treat candy and trade in the rest for a new toy—the shop will give you a ten percent discount off your next purchase in exchange for your unopened Halloween loot. All the tasty donations will go to the Harlem Food Bank, which will distribute the goodies at Thanksgiving. The offer’s good through November 15 (as if the candy will last that long in your apartment!); we suggest making the most of your visit by stopping in on Tues, Nov 12 for storytime.
Are coloring books and finger paints too ho-hum for your quickly maturing child? Then treat him to an afternoon of truly inspired art making. The Anonymous Gallery (a Lower East Side display space for cutting-edge contemporary artists) is launching a series of biweekly children’s art workshops this Saturday. Well-known curators, artists and educators will instruct kids ages five to 12 in collage, printmaking, stencil making, cartooning and much more. Of course artistry doesn’t come cheap: The first session, scheduled for Saturday, November 7 from 1–3pm, costs $50. But if you mention Time Out Kids, you’ll receive a 15% discount. Advance registration required. Email workshops@anonymousgallery.com.
Although you can find discounts to Broadway shows every day, none of the usual deals compare to the bargain that is Kids Night on Broadway. On Tuesday, February 2, Wednesday, February 3 and Sunday, February 7, children ages 6 to 18 can catch a slew of Broadway shows for free—provided you buy an accompanying full-priced adult ticket. Participating productions include tried-and-true family faves (The Lion King, Wicked) tween-pleasers ( Bye Bye Birdie, Billy Elliot the Musical, West Side Story) and even a few choices for mature teens (Oleanna, Next to Normal).
Tickets go on sale on Monday, November 9 at noon, and we’re sure they’re going to sell out fast. Details on how to snag seats for Kids Night on Broadway should be available on the event’s website soon. Last year, a discount code was provided that allowed patrons to purchase tickets by phone, online or at participating theater box offices. Here’s hoping it’s just as easy this year!
Designed by the Brooklyn-based Apartment One studio and opened by Tracey Stewart (wife of The Daily Show’s Jon), Moomah in Tribeca is a class act for kids, equal parts café, play space, gallery and boutique. If you haven’t visited yet, mark your calendar for Sunday, November 15. From 2 to 6pm, Moomah’s hosting an early holiday sale. Save 40 to 70 percent on art supplies, toys, costumes, wooden doll houses and more. Only problem: figuring out how to hide the gifts you buy from your kids, who will certainly be in tow.

“Happy Birthday to you, You belong in a zoo….”
Never will the words to that song ring truer than this Sunday, when the Bronx Zoo celebrates its 110th birthday.
The first 110 visitors to arrive will receive free admission—that’s a value $52 for a family of four—so arrive early (the zoo opens at 10am). In honor of the occasion, the wildlife conservation society is throwing a fabulous shindig (just in case seeing tons of animals isn’t enough of a draw for your kids to make the trip). On the lineup of activities is a cake-cutting ceremony (of course), performances throughout the day by the Wildlife Theater players and lots of learning demonstrations involving the zoo’s resident sea lions.
The tastes may be a bit sophisticated for tots, so think of this as your own pre-Halloween treat. In honor of Kyotofu’s third birthday today, the dainty all-things-soy-milk restaurant is giving away sample packs of its new seasonal treats: Pumpkin Kabocha Cupcakes, Chestnut Cupcakes, Japanese Sweet Potato Bites and and Ginger Spice Financiers. On second thought, who are we to say your kid won’t enjoy Japanese winter squash?

Sometimes procrastination pays off! If you haven’t yet bought your tyke a Halloween costume, head to Ricky’s Soho location (590 Broadway between Houston and Prices Sts) between noon and 2pm today for a chance to snag store gift cards courtesy of Jamba Juice. As part of the company’s “Feel Good Campaign,” Bananaman will be surprising 350 shoppers with $30 gift cards to Ricky’s as well as Jamba Bucks (which range from $1 off Jamba products to $10,000 in cash). Budget issue solved; fighting for the last Spider-man costume is another problem entirely.
