Whatever happened to Slinkys and Lincoln Logs? You know, toys with souls? They’ve been replaced by gadgets and gizmos like LeapFrog’s new “digital assistant.” It looks exactly like your BlackBerry and allows tots to pretend to text message, make calls, etc. Sure, it was only a matter of time until something like this was created, and some parents are going to eat it up, but really? Really?!? I agree with one mom in the article who points out that kids are just going to be asking for the real thing sooner if they’re given toy versions before age 3. I was in college before I got my first cell phone. Why do kids need to be 3 going on 30?
