The folks behind the U.S. version of The Office are behind “Subtle Sexuality,” a spin-off Web series featuring the supporting ensemble behind the hit NBC comedy (Steve Carell, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer and Rainn Wilson are notably absent). “Subtle Sexuality” is shorter than previous Web series from The Office—only three episodes, just under 8 minutes total. The series culminates in the hilarious music video—clock it above.
I created a Flickchart account a couple of months ago, and I’m loath to even think about how many hours I’ve spent clicking away on this site, ranking the various film matchups. So, of course, the next logical step is for me to share my addiction with you, so we can all waste our time together.
Bubble Shooter is familiar style of game. The goal is simple: Shoot your colored bubble into a group of like colors. If there are three or more bubbles of the same color, they will pop and, in some cases, bubbles of other colors that are nearby will burst, as well. As you progress, the bubble wall will descend farther, and the game ends when they hit the bottom, so be sure to dispatch the bubbles nearest to you first.
Telemarketing doesn’t seem like the kind of profession that would transfer well to the gaming world, but if anyone was going to do it well, it’s probably the folks at Adult Swim Games, who have a knack for dressing up the mundane. Fantasy Telemarketer will certainly not appeal to everyone as it’s fairly slow-moving; the most amusing aspects of it are the humorous responses you get from your zany customers.
I’ve been feeling a bit sluggish this week, which I’ll chalk up to my immune system working really hard to prevent me from getting the flu bug that has invaded my house. So I turned to Sheep Dash which helps me gauge how tuned in my reflexes are by letting me shoot darts at cute little cartoon sheep.
Chalk this one up as another entry in my preferred Web-game category of “simple, yet addictive.” Shuffle starts you off with eight red balls, and your goal is roll those balls across the game board and knock your opponent’s yellow balls out of bounds before all of yours are gone. To do this, simply click and hold on the ball you want to move and an arrow will appear; move it around to control the direction and velocity of the ball. When you’re ready, release the cursor and let it fly. Beware though, it is possible for you to knock your own balls out of bounds when you do this. When a player wins a round, he or she loses one ball and is positioned closer to the center line. The first player to win four rounds wins the set.
Note: While the game’s sounds can be muted, there’s some music included before it starts that can be a bit loud, so you might want to turn your sound down.
Chances are, you’re one of the millions of people who has already seen District 9 in the theaters. Well, you can also watch “Alive in Joburg,” the short film on which District 9 is based. The six-and-half-minute short is strikingly similar to the introductory scenes of the feature, consisting of documentary-style footage of a Johannesburg occupied with alien life. You can even catch District 9 star Sharlto Copley (who also produced the short) as one of the talking heads sounding off on the unwelcome visitors. There are some interesting things in “Alive in Joburg” that didn’t make it to the feature, such as the aliens walking around in suits that greatly resemble cardboard boxes stacked on top of each other, and a scene that looks like something from a video game where aliens toss vehicles by way of telekinesis.
It’s an interesting watch, especially if you enjoyed the film. You can check it out below or head to Google Video to view a much larger version.
When I took over the Bored at Work column last December, I began by pimping the popular Web series The Guild. This week, the show’s creator Felicia Day flashed some of her other skill sets by releasing a Guild-themed music video for the original song “(Do You Wanna Date My) Avatar.” This gem was originally shown to fans who attended The Guild’s panel at Comic-Con last month, but on Monday, the rest of the Internet got to share in the fun.
It doesn’t matter whether G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra was your favorite summer blockbuster or not, you can still enjoy this hilarious musical number from the folks at Funny or Die. Have you ever wondered what the Joes and the folks at Cobra Command do in their free time? Well, wonder no more, as you watch this incredibly star-studded music video featuring the likes of Julianne Moore, Billy Crudup and Henry Rollins. It’s some good fluffy summer fun.
3D Curveball is an old favorite of mine and fits squarely into my preferred online game category of “simple, yet addicting.” What you see is what you get. The game is set in a sparse, rectangular tunnel. You’re equipped with a blue paddle and your computer opponent is on the other side of the tunnel with a red one. Whack the ball back and forth, bouncing it off the sides of the tunnel. You get bonuses for accuracy (when the ball hit’s your paddle squarely in the center) and for curving it off the tunnel.
