Patti Smith + Troubled Identity play Hopefest at Park West: Photo Gallery

Poet, priestess, sage, mom from New Jersey—buddy of Robert Mapplethorpe—Patti Smith is all of the above and for those that enjoy a bit more Rimbaud in their rock, she’s a punk icon. This weekend, she played Hopefest, a benefit for Chicago Coalition for the Homeless and also signed copies of Just Kids, her new book about her years of bohemian experimentation, living in the Chelsea Hotel and dating and then being pals with the photographer Mapplethorpe.

Patti put on a great show. Highlights included “Beneath The Southern Cross,” “People Have The Power” and “Love Train.” I posted a photo and review with setlist on my site.
