    Eat Outings: Oct. 15

Posted in Eat Outings by Caroline Shields on October 15th, 2009 at 12:15 pm

If you have a hankering for oysters, drop by Goose Island’s Clybourn location tonight. Order any beer and receive a FREE order of oysters from Shaw’s Crab House. Goose Island 1800 N Clybourn (312-915-0071). gooseisland.com. 5:30–7:30pm.

It’s been a long time since your last philosophy class, but (of course) you still remember Confucius. Koi and Chen’s are celebrating Confucius’s birthday and you can benefit. Order the won ton with peanut sauce ($5) for a long life; the lychee chicken ($12) for prosperity; and the whole fish in sweet and sour sauce ($26.95) for abundance. Koi, 624 Davis St, Evanston (847-866-6969). koievanston.com. 4:30–10pm. Chen’s Chinese and Sushi, 3506 N Clark St (773-549-9100). chenschicago.com. 4–11pm.

You have been meaning to check out Cityscape bar on the 15th floor of the Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza. Tonight is your night. Sip on wines and check out the river at Vino with a View. And don’t worry: Those wine samples will be accompanied by hoisin duck tamales and mini kobe burgers. Cityscape Bar 350 W Mart Center Dr (312-836-5000). Make reservations: cityscape@martplaza.com. 6–8pm, $15.

You got home from work late, ate a late dinner and now are ready to hit the town. Visit The Will of the Earth event at Webster’s Wine Bar. Make your reservation at signup@websterwinebar.com. 9pm–midnight, $35.

The cooler weather has you feeling hungry. So, look no further than Mia Francesca’s Villa Calcinaia Wine (five-course) Dinner with Count Sebastiano Capponi. Dine on dishes like smoked salmon fingerling potato salad, tomato bread soup and housemade spinach ricotta dumplings with braised beef. With the amount of food and wine you will be served, this price tag is practically a steal. 3311 N Clark St (773-281-3310). miafrancesca.com. Limited spots left, reservations required: 708-383-7543. 6:30pm, $65.

You bought your honey crisp apples at the Green City Market and made an apple pie, but want to do something a little saucier. Check out Nacional 27’s Cocktail Class with Adam Seger. Tonight’s class is all about heirloom apples and organic pears. Sip on cocktails and nibble on appetizers. 325 West Huron (312-664-2727). Reservations are recommended but not required, visit: N27chicago.com. 5:30–6:30pm, $20.

Looking for beer, food, art and music, but only want to spend $15? Hit up Uncommon Ground for their Half Acre Brewery Beer Tasting. Kick back with creamy pumpkin soup, pumpkin ravioli, and finish with the classic pumpkin pie. If pumpkins aren’t your thing, head to the champagne tasting tonight ($25, includes 5 champagnes and passed appetizers, such as pear-and-blue-cheese pizza). 110 East Pearson St (312-266-3100). bistro110restaurant.com. 6–8:30pm, $25.
