

Members of Canada’s Plants and Animals often describe the band’s sound as post-classic rock, which fits. But it might be more accurate to say that the band sounds like a hipster-U2. One of the first acts on Saturday’s slate, Plants and Animals banged out a set that was at it’s best when focused on catchy guitar lines and melodic, poppy singing. A tunes songs in, the band started to sound a little bloated, combining meandering instrumentals with two-man vocals that sounded more confused than harmonious. That said, when the formula worked, it worked well.
