Are you sick of the cold, rainy weather? Good news, it’s sick of you too. Celebrate the truce with these heart-pumping outdoor activities happening all over Chicagoland this weekend.
Saturday 13
Urban Dare Taking their tour across the country, the organizers of Urban Dare are promising a full day of Amazing Race–type antics with trivia questions, scavenger hunts and double-dog dares (think climbing a wall, not ingesting a cicada) that will take teams throughout the city. Digital cameras are required (at least one per team), and the use of GPS or other techno gadgets is encouraged in the race for the finish line. 200 W Fullerton Ave, 312-742-7529.
Skirt Chaser 5K The ladies get a three minute head start on the guys today. Afterwards, enjoy gratis Dos Equis beer, Barefoot wine and other happy hour-ish snacks (hey, after racing 3.1 miles, you’ve earned it). 121 W Campbell Street, Arlington Heights, IL.
Sunday 14
U.S. Women’s Triathlon It may be chilly outside, but that won’t deter the 2,500+ women ready to tackle their first triathlon of the season. Naperville is the first stop of the U.S. Women’s Triathlon Series with this sprint distance event. Your swim, bike and run efforts will support the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. 28141 Diehl Road, Warrenville, IL.
North Shore Half Marathon This 31st annual running of 13.1 miles is now hosted by RAM Racing. The course remains the same: It travels through Highland Park, along the Green Bay Trail and Sheridan Road with a finish with a lap around Wolter’s Field. For those of you who didn’t pound the pavement this spring, the 5K option should suit just fine. 1040 Park Avenue West, Highland Park, IL.
