When we launched Time Out Chicago in March of 2005, readers told us over and over again that they had no idea there were so many things to do in Chicago and that the magazine had given them a newfound appreciation for our great city. I had a similar feeling during the last few months while we were producing the premiere issue of our newest publication, Time Out Chicago Kids.

As the mother of two energetic boys, I’m always looking for new ways to entertain them without getting sucked into overpriced tourist traps. The Kids and Around Town sections of the weekly are great for that, but when it comes to kids, there can never be enough options. Parents told us they wanted more, too, and now we have it. This week, the first issue of Time Out Chicago Kids hits mailboxes and stores (find it at Borders and Barnes & Noble locations). In the debut issue, you’ll find 99 things to do with your kids for $10 or less–more than one for every day from June 1 to Labor Day. You’ll also find family-friendly restaurants, the best ice-cream shops, killer water parks, summer camps, bike outings and, our specialty, comprehensive event listings for the entire summer. Our next issue will come out just before the holiday season. Until then, you’ll find fresh content all the time at timeoutchicago.com/kids. Drop in anytime and tell us what you’d like to see in our new magazine. Now grab the mag, get out and start exploring…and don’t you dare let your kids tell you there’s nothing to do this summer.

I LOVE the new Time Out Kids!! It’s just what chicago needs. We love the section int eh regular Time Out but this has so much more. I think it’s perfect for families w/ young kids. Chicago has so much to offer and the magazine has so many undiscovered places!
This summer is all about the staycation for us, so this is just what we need. Lots of adventures to have - I just checked out the 99 things to do and have already made reservations at one of your suggestions. Thanks - can’t wait to read the whole thing.
I really am psyched about TOC kids. I found the ideas in gifts for teachers really terrific. Keep up the good work.
where is this special issue sold? i’ve checked the chain stores in the burbs and in the loop, places that normally carry TOC. i checked union station! i can’t find it anywhere!!
You can find TOC Kids in Borders and Barnes and Noble stores. Hope you like it!
Is it possible to subscribe to the Time Out Chicago Kids magazine, so we can have it delivered to our front door?
Thanks,
Seth
