    Rockstar Dogs: Closed?

Posted in Restaurants and bars by David Tamarkin on March 9th, 2009 at 3:19 pm

Chicago’s first hot dog joint to come with a stripper pole is, as far as I can tell, no longer. This weekend, some TOC staffers tried to head to Rockstar Dogs for a post-bar Skinny Puppy (that’s a dog with just mustard; never say we don’t get down with minimalism over here) and found the restaurant dark and deserted. A phone call to the original Chicago Ave location found that the phone was disconnected; the phone at the Lincoln Park location rang but went to voicemail despite its alleged opening hour of 11am. Being a Dion Antic project, closing unexpectedly isn’t exactly, um, unexpected. Still, in this economy, aren’t hot dogs the kind of food that are supposed to thrive?

Not $6 hotdogs! There’s only one man who can pull that off and his name is Doug!

At $6-$8 a dog, those hot dogs deserved to die in this economy!

Plus, as you noted, it was owned by Dion, so it haad that going against it too.

$6-8 is for a meal. Dog, fries, & drink.

Still … cold dogs es no bueno….

Happened to drive by the Chicago Ave location around 9pm and it was pitch black. Funny this should pop up today on the TOC blog.

Dion is a scum bag anyway..everything he touches goes to crap. Its an insult that he can still do business in this city.

don’t know the owner, dion, but funny everyone is dogging him (no pun intended) because even before this i’ve heard nothing but bad things about the dude.

Rockstar has been sketchy for the past few weeks. I just went in about a month ago and it was dead in there.
Then, I walked by a couple weeks ago and there was a sign taped to the door about how they were temporarily closed because they were recording a cd or going on tour or something (?).
A couple days later there was ANOTHER sign taped up that said their grill was broken.
And now, no signs. Just darkness.

Talk about beating around the bush, Rockstar.

I went to the linkin park location a few weeks ago and almost shit in my pants when I saw that I had to pay 7 bucks for a hot dog. What a JOKE of a place. Who charges 7 bucks for a hot dog. I got a jumbo and it was like a regular dog.

Im not upset about this place closing.

Just an FYI to people…..Dion Antic (remember that name) doesn’t pay his employee’s, doesn’t pay his bills, run’s off with money for the register, and probably doesn’t pay his rent….the reason why RSD was closed on Ashland was because he didn’t pay the electric bill….and the location in Lincoln Park is closed for a number of reasons. Dion Antic is the WORST boss I have ever had….dodges paying his employee’s, and refuses to answer for his ILLEGAL business practices. Yes, I used to work for Dion…..he IS a scum-bag. I worked there for 5 weeks…(started Feb 5th), and never recieved a paycheck, then both locations closed, so I was refused hours. So, make your own judgement from what I have written….my advice is; avoid this fool with a 20 ft. pole.
