I know, it sounds dirty and, you never know, it might be. Diablo Cody, the Oscar-winning screenwriter of Juno, has a new television show premiering this weekend called The United States of Tara and, true to her blogger roots, she will be Twittering live during the airing of the episode.
This does not come as a huge surprise as Cody has long embraced social media, maintaining a blog on MySpace and a personal Twitter stream. In fact, the pilot episode of Tara has been available online at Sho.com and via Netflix Watch Instantly for a few weeks now, in an effort to get word of mouth churning.
However, Cody’s doing what she can to get you to tune into Showtime Sunday, January 18, to watch the show live. She’ll be giving her 140-character comments at the DiabloOnTara Twitter account. She plans to do this weekly, not just for the pilot. In her words, “It’ll be like Pop-Up Video only even lamer and more meta.”
