TUESDAY
Bin wine café offers a new deal on an old favorite. Every Tuesday night, the “Top Ten” burger can be had for $5. Of course, with add-ons such as fried egg, pico de gallo and horseradish butter, you can easily double the price. The wallet to waist ratio is still worth it. 5–10pm. 1559 N Milwaukee Ave (773-486-2233).
WEDNESDAY
Winter just got a little warmer as the Hideout introduces a free weekly Soup and Bread dinner. Yep, free–though donations are encouraged for the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Guest soup chefs, ranging from local chefs to regular barflies, will create the soup menu so come with an open mind. Wednesdays through April 1. 5–8pm. 1353 W Wabansia (soupnbread.wordpress.com).
THURSDAY
The Original Mother’s hosts the Ninth Annual Elvis Fest to commemorate the 74th birthday of that hunk of burnin’ love. Featuring karaoke and Elvis tribute artists, guests can also gorge themselves on a peanut butter and banana sandwich buffet that is fit for a King (like this guy). $5 suggested donation. 7pm. 26 W Division St (312-642-7251).
FRIDAY
Got $850 burning a hole in your pocket? Neither do we, but tanking economy be damned, Eno in the Fairmont Hotel Chicago holds a tasting of the rare 1935 Barros White Colheita. A bottle runs $850 but $90 will score you a one ounce taste. 4–11pm. 200 N Columbus Dr (312-946-7000).
SATURDAY
Interested in non-cooking cooking? No, we don’t mean ordering delivery. Karyn Calabrese, founder of Karyn’s Fresh Corner Cafe, will hold a free session discussing her culinary philosophy and experiences as well as inform about the raw food movement. Free samples of raw food will be available. 12pm. 1901 N Halsted (312-255-1590).
SUNDAY
Café Ba-Ba-Reeba! features a Flamenco dinner show to compliment their tapas and paellas. Dancers from the Soleo Dance Company will dazzle diners with their Spanish footwork. $10 cover. 5pm. 2024 N Halsted (773-935-5000).
