How to make your Sarah Palin costume ever scarier

Posted in Shopping and style by Scott Smith on October 21st, 2008 at 1:24 pm

Sarah Palin as The Joker. Photo: Nicole Radja for Time Out Chicago; Stylist: Camilla Ha.

The Dark Knight was this summer’s hit movie, so expect a large number of Jokers running around on Oct 31 (the villain, not the goofballs you usually see). And thanks to her appearances on Saturday Night Live - either in person or via Tina Fey’s dead-on impression - an army of Sarah Palins will be roaming the streets on Halloween as well. So in order to distinguish your  costumes from everyone else’s, you’re going to need to step up your game.

Witness: Sarah Palin as…The Joker! She’s brought to ever-so-creepy life by our intern Robin Clement, who usually sits right across from me. I have not been able to look her in the eye since.

For more info on how we created an ensemble that will give you nightmares long after Election Day, read "Costumes for a maverick." And for a look at some of the "sexy" costumes* to avoid this year, check out our look at "A very slutty Halloween," which sounds like the worst Charlie Brown special ever.

More pictures of Robin-as-Sarah-as-The Joker after the jump.

    * Does a "Sexy Sarah Palin" costume differ much from the "Regular Sarah Palin" costume? And, if so, how? Discuss.

Was this really necessary? I’m not a fan of hers, but seriously? I also object to the use of the word “slutty” to describe her. Just because a woman is attractive and in a beauty pagent when she was young, automatically makes her promiscuous? That’s misogynist attitude if I have ever heard one.

Becca: Nowhere in that post do I call Sarah Palin “slutty.”

I think Becca is silly. It’s all in good fun and let’s face it, what’s more funny than Sarah Palin dressed as The Joker? Well, actually I can think of several things that are more funny than that but it is still a very enjoyable costume. Becca must have too much time on her hands… but then again it would appear that I do too.

Way to go Robin. Great photos!!! Original!

I think your title bar is reversed. This should be how to make your Joker costume scarier.

And nowhere did Obama call Palin a “pig”, but that didn’t stop Republicans from claiming he did. As Obama pointed out when he discussed it on Letterman, if you take the “lipstick on a pig” metaphor as referring to persons instead of policies, she’d be the lipstick.
