Shortly after Barack Obama delivered his career-defining (perhaps America-defining) speech last night, The Daily Show contributed its own masterwork. Jon Stewart and company have had a running joke throughout the Democratic National Convention: They tape earlier in the day, so the material they draw from is at least a day old by the time they’re able to cover it. So they started the show with a few jokes about how the speech covered “change” and “hope”, then mentioned that they weren’t allowed to cover it due to an embargo, but they had gotten ahold of the introduction video.
What follows is one of The Daily Show’s finest achievements.
