    Our steak in the matter

Posted in Restaurants and bars by David Tamarkin on July 24th, 2008 at 5:20 pm

I’m addicted to Eater.com. Why this is, I have no idea—for all intents and purposes it’s completely irrelevant to me. (At least, it is until they start their once-imminent, now-on-hold Chicago version of the site).

But on the issue they’re currently grappling with, I feel a need to chime in. The debate: Whether Shake Shack’s new logo is a rip-off of Steak ‘n Shake’s.

Dear reader, I think the evidence proves that Steak ‘n Shake is indeed being ripped off. And because S-n-S is an Illinois original, and because I’m a big fan of both the steaks and, yes dear reader, those delicious shakes, I’m putting in my Midwestern two cents and urging Shake Shack to give it up. You’re good, SS. Quite good. But S-n-S was here first.

    So who’s with me?
