The Schaumburgification of Wicker Park/Bucktown continues: Around the Coyote has announced that its 2008 Fall Arts Festival will be held at Plumbers Hall (1340 W Washington) in the West Loop, just under two miles from the Crotch. (ATC has also pushed back the event to Oct 17–19, 2008, extending the deadlines for visual art submissions to Aug 1 and music/film/literary/theater projects to Aug 8.)
ATC’s executive director, Allison Stites, and visual art coordinator, Patricia Courson, warned me that the Fall Arts Festival might have to leave Wicker Park back in May, when I wrote about the ATC Spring Festival’s shift downtown to Looptopia. Both cited the dwindling number of affordable venues. I live in Bucktown and would like to rant about this some more, but I haven’t been in the area as long as this guy.
