The Chicago Tribune’s Dan Mihalopoulos reports that the City Council voted 33-16 in favor of moving the Chicago Children’s Museum to Grant Park. That whirring sound is Montgomery Ward spinning in his grave.
After doing research on the lakefront for our Essentials issue, I became an adamant proponent of the "forever open, clear and free" plan. I think the move is a misuse of the city’s time and resources. It could and should go someplace else- if it has to move at all. I have to agree with one of the Trib commenters - if the mayor really cared about Chicago kids, maybe he could do more to stop them from getting shot.
