Hot Doug’s theme as tasty as The Marty Allen

Posted in Music, Restaurants and bars by Scott Smith on May 20th, 2008 at 12:17 pm

Did you know Hot Doug’s has a theme song? I was poking around its site today (note: they’re closed on Memorial Day) and noticed that the venerable encased meats emporium has posted three versions of said song: the rock version (posted below) is a tight nugget of Chicago power pop, and the techno and hybrid remixes of same are self-explanatory.

I’m having a little trouble with the lyrics though, even though the whole thing is pretty much chorus-chorus-chorus. Near as I can tell, they are:

    Hot Doug’s! (x5)
I want to eat at Hot Doug’s
I want to eat a hot dog
I want to eat a hot dog
I want to eat at Hot Doug’s
I want the meat, I want the case, I want the meats that are encased, oh yeaaaah.
I want to eat at Hot Doug’s (x4)
    Doug’s it up! (x10)

It’s that last line I’m having trouble discerning. Still, if I was Pitchfork, I’d give it an 8.2, which makes it better than Titus Andronicus, but not as good as the new Portishead.
