Yesterday’s Annoyance newsletter contained an exciting piece of info that "hasn’t even hit the press yet" (we’re on it): They’re bringing back Co-Ed Prison Sluts!
This summer’s the shocker theater’s 20th anniversary, and the celebration ends with a resurrection of the longest running musical of all time in Chicago. Yep, it’s not Wicked.
July 11 is the official opening date, which also serves as a benefit to subsidize a trip to send the cast of Love is Dead (its hilarious necrophilia-themed musical) to the New York Fringe Festival. $25 scores you a ticket to the show and, according to the newsletter:
* A complimentary glass of champagne for the champagne toast
* A drawing for souvenir wall tiles from the set signed by the original cast of Co-ed Prison Sluts
* A drawing for the chance to play The Warden in the show, and invite 20 of your friends to watch you and
* A post-show pizza party (hey, it’s prison - you get champagne, what do you want, canapés?)
The evening’s hosted by Susan Messing, who starred in the original run, and Mick Napier, the Annoyance’s co-founder. I can’t wait.
UPDATE:
Mike Canale at the Annoyance has shared the cast list:
Colleen Murray
Ellen Stoneking (reprising her role as the Dame)
Dunbar Dicks
Thomas Whittington
Heath Cordts
James Asmus
Clay Goodpasture
Scott Goldstein
Napier is directing and Lisa McQueen will, of course, supply the music.
