(Totally fake) Lollapalooza 2008 lineup announced

Posted in Lollapalooza 2008, Music by Scott Smith on March 4th, 2008 at 11:02 am

Anyone else get this, or just us? The Photoshopping is most obvious around the 8 in 2008 and on the date on the bottom. And the logo is from last year. And Pipettes is spelled wrong. And DJ Jazzy Jeff is supposedly playing. (Click the image above for a larger version.)

Damn shame though, because that’s a nice-looking lineup.

As for who’s responsible, I’m guessing it’s someone associated with CRS The Band. There’s a band on that lineup called "CRS" and no one I’ve spoken with has heard of them though Google turns up the Dad Rock band in that link. Then again, their site says they played the "official WHTT Oldiesfest" two years in a row so maybe this is their move to the big time.

Oddly enough, I just got an email from the official Lolla mailing list about $60 "souvenir passes" going onsale this week. So maybe this is just some intern’s  - poorly Photoshopped - way of trying to impress their C3 boss with a viral marketing campaign.

What kind of fake Lolla line-up doesn’t have Led Zeppelin in the top spot? Pathetic.

This is from the lollapalooza message board at http://www.lollapalooza.com

Oh, and CRS is a hip-hop “supergroup” that consists of Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco and Pharrell.

Shoot. There goes a fine conspiracy theory.

Yep. This was all for fun and games.

You guys are taking it way to seriously.

      So what about Pearl Jam?

CRS is Child Rebel Soldiers, the hip-hop supergroup featuring Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, and Pharrell Williams.

Haha, as a designer myself I can’t believe anyone thought they would fool anyone with that awful typography attempt!!!

Wow, first of all this was put online up to 6 months ago, and it is from the Lollapalooza.com Official Forums where members voted on who they think should be on the lineup, and this final copy was made with huge disclaimers underneath.

What a horrible article, not only are you guys extremely late but lame attempt to use forensics to prove this false when a google search will find this and the disclaimers in 2 seconds, and save yourselves the embarrassment…

I’m not sure what we’re supposed to be embarrassed about with this. Other than me not knowing who CRS was.

Word on the streets here is that the Pipettes have just broken up - big fallout in the band, rumours of quite evil happenings… both of the original singers forced out of the band over the last year have started new bands that are quite good, though.
And as for Lolla, I saw the first tour when it passed through New York state, and will forever remember Gibby from the Butthole Surfers sampling the sound of a bottle being broken over his head for the start of his show. Class.

Oh, how I wish your line-up was true!! Would add Daft Punk in the list!!
